The Bürgenstock Chapel is a replica of Canton Nidwalden’s oldest Gothic place of worship, the Chapel of St. Jost on the slopes of Mount Bürgen. The replica was built in 1897 on the orders of Countess Tancrède de la Baume, née Pozzo di Borgo, whose summer residence was in the hotel village. She even had an exact replica made of the original’s vibrant wooden ceiling. A number of other interior features dating back to the 17th century originate from a variety of Swiss churches. Renovated in 1965 by its then owner, Fritz Frey.
This was where Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer took their vows in 1954. Today, the Bürgenstock Chapel is yours to celebrate your “most beautiful day”…
