The Hammetschwand Lift, at 1,132 metres, is the highest outdoor lift in Europe. Here you will also find the Hammetschwand mountain restaurant.
As of 23 July 2019, the Hammetschwand Lift has been temporarily closed due to security concerns. During daily routine inspections it was decided that the anchors require further examination to ensure the safety of the lift. Upon analysis of the carrying capacity of the anchors, experts will recommend adequate maintenance work. The reopening of the Hammetschwand Lift will be announced following this. As a precautionary measure, the entire Cliff Walk “Felsenweg” has also been temporarily closed as of 23 July 2019.
The Hammetschwand as a popular place of excursions and viewpoint remains open. The Hammetschwand restaurant also remains open. The restaurant and the Hammetschwand can be reached via different hiking trails.
