Learn more about the iconic Bürgenstock Resort on a 90-minute guided tour.
Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort, Lake Lucerne , with a legendary history
The idea of a hotel on the Bürgenberg mountain on Lake Lucerne originated in the second half of the 19th century. This was in the wake of the increasing popularity of mountaineering and the beginnings of spa tourism in Switzerland. In 1873 Franz Josef Bucher and Josef Durrer opened the Grand Hotel before it became the property of Friedrich Frey-Fürst in the 1920s. Thanks to modernisation and extensions, one of our Lake Lucerne hotels has developed into a place of international renown with prominent guests such as Audrey Hepburn, Konrad Adenauer, Jimmy Carter and Indira Gandhi. After the extensive renovation, which lasted nine years and ended in 2017, the heyday of Bürgenstock Resort is now experiencing a brilliant revival.
